When I heard that Sony was cancelling ‘The Interview’ I was pissed off.

This was definitely a case in which the terrorists won, and I wanted to write about it.

But then Sony decided to cave a second time.

And 12 people were murdered in Paris, because other people disagreed with their ideas.

It got me thinking about responsibility and agency.

And I’ve come to the potentially controversial decision that if people want to risk their lives by going to a theatre that might be blown up, or by printing a cartoon that will enrage people, then that is their right, and we have no right to stop them.

And if journalists want to be able to call themselves that then they should probably start posting a few more pictures of Muhammad.

Hello friends. I recently finished listening to the audio book version of Paul Krugman’s ‘The Conscience of a Liberal’. Firstly, I would like to say that audio books are the way forward. You can listen to them at the gym, while driving, or even while losing badly at Starcraft 2.

Anyway, the book contains many valuable insights into global economic theory and American politics, and I urge you all to snag a copy.

Of course I don’t have the time, space or inclination to explain everything Krugman covers in the book but the thing that he said that really stuck with me was this: the Republican Party is going to start falling apart, because it makes no sense.

Hello friends. Today I bring sad tidings from the Interwebs, and the blogotron.

A “friend” of mine has just been banned from the “Everybody draw Mohammed” facebook group. His crime? Criticising Israel, and pointing out that the people arrested on the Gaza aid flotilla were not terrorists, but journalists, politicians, intellectuals and charity workers.

A Heinous act indeed! Not only is it all true but it is deeply offensive to the apparently radically pro-Israel members of the group.
