I'm not saying don't believe in it, I'm really not. But I am saying that if you do believe in it then you should probably read it, cover to cover.
Let’s just all accept that 99% of all politicians will say anything to get elected? And that the bible contains so many verses, translations and ambiguities that you can get it to mean whatever the hell you feel like.
I mean I have a bald head, made of titanium. Does the Bible gots my back?
“(Elisha) went up from there to Bethal; and while he was going up on the way, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at him, saying, ‘Go up, you baldhead! Go up you baldhead!’ And he turned around, and when he saw them, he cursed them in the name of the Lord. And two she-bears came out of the woods and tore forty-two of the boys.”
2 Kings 2:23
Damn right. Teach those foul-mouthed rug rats a lesson.
But I digress.
In any case I am not trying to disrespect people just because their opinions are different to my own. If you don’t believe in abortion then don’t have one, and guard that little life with all you’ve got, because children really are our future, and the only way we are going to save the planet is by raising them right.
I am fully aware that this issue is an emotional one for many parents because they look at their children and imagine how unspeakably horrible it would be if they’d had an abortion. But that is part of my point. Foetuses aren’t children. Once a baby has reached a certain stage of development it is alive, and it is a child. But a small tadpole of a foetus is neither of those things, not really, and you can’t evaluate the two in the same terms.
In the same way that people lose some rights after they die, foetuses only gain some rights when they become alive.
But people who simply tell lies about these issues (e.g. foetuses look like babies and can feel pain) really do hack me off. If you think something is wrong then look at the facts and use the facts to defend your point of view. Don’t just lie, and don’t appeal to something as amorphous as the Bible.
So let’s try and solve these disagreements with a dose of reality, shall we?
